Assistant Toddler Teacher

River Road Early Learning Center is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Assistant Toddler Teacher to join our early childhood team.
The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in supporting the Lead Teacher by helping provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children ages 16 months to 2 years. This is a support position that works under the direction of the Lead Teacher to ensure the daily routines and classroom activities run smoothly.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Toddler Teacher assists the Lead Teacher in implementing the daily schedule, supervising children, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, and supporting children's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. This position is not a co-teaching role. The Assistant Teacher follows the Lead Teacher's direction and supports the Lead Teacher's instructional plans and classroom routines.
Responsibilities:
Child Care & Supervision:
- Maintain active supervision of children at all times.
- Build warm, responsive relationships with each child.
- Assist children with daily routines, including meals, diapering, toileting, handwashing, rest time, and transitions.
- Promote children's independence while providing appropriate support.
- Ensure children's safety and well-being throughout the day.
Classroom Support:
- Follow the daily schedule and routines established by the Lead Teacher.
- Assist with classroom activities, learning centers, outdoor play, and group experiences.
- Reinforce classroom expectations and positive behavior guidance.
- Prepare and clean learning spaces before and after activities as directed by the Lead Teacher.
- Keep classroom materials, toys, and equipment clean, organized, and sanitized.
Health & Safety:
- Follow all licensing regulations and River Road Early Learning Center policies.
- Maintain a clean, healthy, and safe classroom environment.
- Follow proper sanitation and diapering procedures.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Arrive on time and ready to work each day.
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with the Lead Teacher and other staff members.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Accept feedback professionally and implement suggestions for growth.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree or higher preferred.
- Experience working with toddlers or young children preferred.
- CDA or coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with young children throughout the day.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Must pass all required background checks.
